Money for Nice

Performance. 2005. A collaboration with Vlatka Horvat. First performed at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, on August 26, 2005. A home commission.

A deadpan attempt to improve the atmosphere at an art event, Money for Nice features two performers/sales reps who operate a stand, offering money to the visitors in exchange for ‘being nice’ for 15 minutes. The visitors are asked to sign a formal contract, promising to ‘be nice’ for the allotted period of time. After getting paid, the participants are free to interpret the instruction in any way they wish.
