Rules of the Game started as a text work setting out the rules for an imaginary drinking game in which a detailed system of triggers and forfeits ties drinks, undressing and sex acts to live reports of news events on TV. The text work was included in the publication Do It – a collection of artists’ instructions-projects edited by Hans Ulrich Obrist, as well as in the online version of Do It at www.e-flux.com.

In a development of the work, created in a collaboration with Hugo Glendinning and Forced Entertainment, a series of panoramic images shows a variety of players involved in the game and supposedly following the instructions proposed in the text work. In this subsequent version of the project, the photographs are accompanied by textual fragments of the rules.
